Hell Week

Hell Week is a physically and mentally challenging program offered to all Bronze, Silver and Gold squad members each year.

Squad Members will be attempting to achieve a weekly kilometre target that will test their commitment, endurance and mindset:

  • Bronze Squad target is 30km (between 3-4km per session)
  • Silver Squad target is 40km (between 4-6km per session)
  • Gold Squad target is 50km (between 6-7 km per session)

The Hell Week program will also include the following:

  • Long distance technique sets
  • Short rest training
  • Heart rate training
  • Kick and pull distance sets

Squad members will only be considered as successfully completing Hell Well if they are able to maintain 100% attendance throughout week (no days missed and attending FULL sessions) and achieve their set target goal of either 30, 40 or 50km. And there is always a celebration on the final night!

Information regarding Hell Week will be sent out in advance of event each year.

AIS Camp

In 2017, our aspiring Olympians will have the opportunity to train alongside their idols at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and experience the state of the art facilities elite athletes use at the Kings Swim Club AIS Camp. Squad Members will have access to superior-quality training facilities, world leading sports clinical and science experts, exceptional recovery facilities and much more.

This six day camp at the AIS in Canberra during the September/October school holidays will give our Squad Members the chance to immerse themselves in the AIS environment whilst developing independence, confidence, skills and making lasting friendships.

The Kings Swim Club AIS Camp was last conducted in 2015 and considered an enormous success. We would encourage all Squad Members to participate in this fantastic opportunity and learn how to train, recover, eat, sleep and assesses their performance at this world class facility.

For 2017, the camp will be held in the second week of the September/October school holidays with Squad Members leaving in the evening on Sunday 1st October and travelling overnight to arrive at the AIS at 7:00am on Monday 2nd October where they will have an action packed week of training, activities and lectures – all alongside Olympic and Commonwealth Games athletes. Squad Members will be leaving the AIS late on Friday 6th October to arrive home on Saturday 7th in the early morning.

At this stage, the camp is expected to cost $450 – $500 per person with the Committee and the entire Kings Swim Club community working hard to fundraise over $12,000 to subsidise the cost of the bus to Canberra.

More details regarding this event will follow closer to the date.
